A few days after the international design event that enlivened the city of Milan, Tabulaex – WollyBI team has tried to evaluate the design world and the labour market related to it.
Salone Del Mobile 2019, the best year ever
The data relating to the last edition of the Salone del Mobile that was held from 9th to 15th April was officially released.
The overall evaluation is quite positive. Compared to 2017, there was a 12% increase numbers of visitors to the Rho Fiera, where the Euroluce and Workplace 3.0 (new format dedicated to the office) were also held this year. In a 6 days period, records show the presence of 286.236 visitors from 181 making Milan the global center of creativity and quality manufacturing. It is a very important appointment not only for the prestige of the Lombardy capital, or the economic opportunities (just think of restaurants, hotels, means of transport etc…), but also for the cultural enrichment. More importantly it is a unique opportunity for all the brands and companies involved, for which the Salone del Mobile becomes a real opportunity to conduct business, collect orders and to plan for the next semester.
Claudio Luti, president of Salone del Mobile, has declared: “We conclude this edition of the Salone del Mobile with a positive evaluation. We have evaluated the quality and we have demonstrated our desire to improve ourselves, working closely with designers, artisans, communication and culture operators to continue to produce process innovation and to “tell stories” that increase the value of design “.
The labour market inside the design world: what do the data say?
Tabulaex – WollyBi team thanks to the Big Data analysis process related to the offer published on web, managed to integrate a dashboard that clarifies the demand for jobs in this sector, demonstrate the most demanding professional figures and identifies the requested types of work contracts and Italian regions these contracts belong to. The algorithm has extrapolated and aggregated the data demonstrating that the most demanded jobs in Italy in year 2018 are:
- Graphics and multimedia designers (5.317 jobs adv)
- Interior designer and decorators (2.046 jobs adv)
The region that plays the main role is the Lombardy with about 2.400 announcements, a fact that isn’t surprising given that Milan is one of the most dynamic cities in Italy. At the second position we have found Veneto (1025 jobs adv) followed by Emilia Romagna (937 Jobs adv). South, islands and special administrative area (like Val d’Aosta and Trentino Alto Adige) are the tail-end of the classification.
The most demanded professions on the web in the world: type of contract
Through WollyBi’s analysis aimed at analyzing the quantity and type of announcements published on the web we have noticed a contradiction regarding the professional figures demanded by companies in the explosive world of design.
As often happens, the level of experience required in 30% of cases is between 2 and 4 years.
Which means professionals who have consolidated skills thanks to their previous work, not beginners, nor young graduates. Then come the 23% of the announcements including figures with an experience level between 1 and 2 years. Way for the young people.
However, the type of contracts offered, in 46% of cases are fixed-term while in 20.7% of cases they look for self-employed workers with VAT. (with 64.40% of total announcements asking for a full-time commitment).
On the other hand, 16.04% of announcements offer an open-ended contract while 11.82% offer a training contract.
All details are available on Dashboard realized by Tabulaex – WollyBI Team.
